My name is Helen, Hels, Hels Bells, and I run Hels Bells kettlebell club based in Portishead, Bristol.<\/p>
I have trained with Kettlebells for nearly 10 years and started coaching kettlebells 7 years ago. I set up Hels Bells in 2018 which has a focus on strength training, supporting you to get strong, stay safe and injury free.<\/p>
<\/p>
I\u2019ve always had an interest in sport and spent most of my formative years running, jumping and taking every opportunity to play outside. PE was my favourite part of the week and I enjoyed representing school teams, particularly netball which I continued to play right the way through University.<\/p>

I knew from a young age I wanted to be a teacher and I vividly remember making my brother copy the words off the blackboard in my mum\u2019s classroom, his enthusiasm was not shared! My first teaching post was in Oxford, I then moved to Bristol in 2000 where I worked at a local secondary school teaching PE, taking on additional responsibility as Assistant Headteacher responsible for Teaching and Learning. In my spare time I played volleyball at a competitive level.<\/p>
<\/p>
In 2002 I met Si and after a whirlwind eighteen months we married at Leigh Court in Bristol. Two children later, and with my fitness having taken a back seat for a number of years, I made the decision it was time to get \u2018back in shape\u2019 A friend introduced me to kettlebells and it would be fair to say I was an addict from the outset!<\/p>
<\/p>
In October 2017, I achieved the Strong First Level 1 Kettlebell Qualification (SFG). And have subsequently completed all the StrongFirst certificates, making me one of 11 Elite StrongFirst instructors in the UK. My qualifications include kettlebells, barbell and bodyweight.<\/p>
<\/p>
The standards set by StrongFirst are high, each weekend attended is challenging, but in equal measures inspiring. I am also privileged to have assisted at the certifications a number of times, supporting other aspiring coaches.<\/p>
<\/p>
Hels Bells has over 80 active club members attending both day and evening sessions. I offer kettlebells, barbell and bodyweight sessions. And since Covid I now offer online training for those that are not local. I have coached people from all over the UK and abroad.<\/p>
<\/p>
I love what I do, utilising my teaching skills to support adults to get stronger, achieve their strength goals and stay safe whilst training.<\/p>
